Responsibilities:

• Hold all associates accountable for their actions and behaviors to ensure mutual respect and trust is maintained.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized store, with clear signage and easy-to-navigate product displays. This can help customers feel more relaxed and comfortable in the store, and can also make it easier for them to find what they're looking for.
• Obtain and maintain a deep understanding of the merchandise sold within the store and have the ability to respond to queries and present product recommendations effectively.
• Tasked with the duty of maintaining a friendly demeanor, creating a welcoming environment, and proactively greeting, conversing with, and helping customers.
• Our mission is to process customer transactions at the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently, to ensure that our customers leave satisfied.
• Adhering to the designated shift hours is essential.
• Authenticate and accept exact payment for the merchandise, offer relevant change, and process checks, credit and debit transactions as outlined in the department's paperwork and task performance procedures.
• Familiarize yourself with the Point of Sale system to competently manage a range of payment methods, rain checks, elaborate loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures that comply with company policies.
• To document the sale of goods, slide the merchandise across the scanning window, use a handheld scanner, or manually enter information into the 10-key pad.
• Conform to the business's cash handling policies and implement loss prevention measures by working conscientiously and honestly.
• Understand and comply with the rules that oversee products with limited sales, including Alcohol, Fireworks, Tobacco, and Videos.
• Procedures aimed at mitigating inventory loss could include a thorough check of basket bottoms, the scanning of all merchandise to ensure inventory accuracy, refraining from manual sales entries, and properly executing closing procedures.
• Meeting productivity benchmarks by promptly handling transactions within the allocated time.
• Follow the company policy as per the guidelines provided and report any discrepancies in pricing.
• Stay updated with the present, future, festive, and exclusive promotions.

• Part of your job is to offer customers information about the company directives, such as Kroger Personal Finance, fuel points, customer service surveys, and fundraising requests.
• The checkout area should always remain clean, which means that wiping down all surfaces is essential.
• Reinforce safety procedures by strictly adhering to established safety protocols and identifying and reporting any unsafe conditions to store management.
• Keep the management informed of incidents related to customers or employees.
• To ensure the safety and security of everyone, any safety hazards and illegal activities such as robbery, theft or fraud, must be reported.
• To avoid any potential legal issues, it is crucial to comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and adhere to the protocols put in place by the company.
• The smooth operation of the establishment relies on the meticulous adherence to the current guidelines for merchandise display, customer care, cash management, labor management, supply chain management, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, employee behavior, and customer engagement.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM

• Mastery of checker training accomplished
• Being able to stay calm and focused in high-pressure scenarios is a valuable skill
• Effective communication skills
• The ability to accurately count, quickly add and subtract numbers, and solve basic mathematical problems is a crucial skill in everyday life
• Being able to accommodate the job's physical requirements is crucial
• You must be at least 18 years old to qualify

DESIRED

• Having a high school diploma or other comparable certification is essential for a range of professional endeavors
• Customer service experience

• Effective second language instruction should include activities that help students develop their reading and writing abilities
