Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and maintain an understanding of the products available in the store and have the competence to deal with questions and make knowledgeable product recommendations.

• Verify the actual payment for the merchandise; distribute exact change; carry out processing of checks, credit, and debit charges following the proper departmental protocols for task operation and paperwork.
• Gain proficiency in navigating the Point of Sale system in order to process various payment methods, rain checks, intricate loyalty schemes, coupons, and checkout procedures, adhering to company requirements.
• To document the sale of goods, slide the merchandise across the scanning window, use a handheld scanner, or manually enter information into the 10-key pad.
• Acquire a thorough understanding of the company's procedures for managing cash and work honestly and efficiently to control losses.
• Follow the guidelines that regulate the sale of restricted commodities, such as Videos, Fireworks, Alcohol, and Tobacco.
• Minimize inventory loss by employing shrink reduction procedures such as inspecting the bottom of baskets, scanning all merchandise to ensure accurate inventory counts, avoiding manual transactions, and consistently following standard closing procedures.
• Promptly completing transactions within the allotted time to achieve productivity targets.
• Ensure compliance with company policy by reporting any pricing discrepancies to the necessary department.
• Keep yourself updated with the current, upcoming, occasion-themed, and limited-time advertisements.

• Don't forget to mention to customers the various company directives, including Kroger Personal Finance, fuel points, customer service surveys, and fundraising requests.
• The checkout area should always remain clean, which means that wiping down all surfaces is essential.
• Boost safety initiatives by adhering to safety policies and procedures, and promptly informing store management of any unsafe conditions or situations.
• Notify the management promptly in case of any accidents with customers or employees.
• Reporting safety dangers and unlawful activity, including robbery, theft or fraud, is crucial for keeping everyone safe.
• Be certain to adhere to all company guidelines, along with the laws and regulations that have been put in place by the local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
• To maintain a well-organized work environment, it is crucial to follow the various regulations concerning merchandise display, customer service, cash handling, labor management, supply chain management, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, associate behavior, and customer engagement.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM

• Competence in checker training achieved
• Being able to manage stressful situations successfully without succumbing to anxiety is a crucial quality
• Effective communication skills
• The mastery of these fundamental math skills is often a prerequisite for success in various professions, such as engineering, finance, and science
• Physical fitness is a must when it comes to this job
